Self-reflection
The Northwest
School is a colorful school, and the teachers in this school can use the most
interesting way to help us understand useful knowledge. Instead, my school in
China is a very academic school. Every day was almost the same when I was in
China. However, everyday in America is different. I can have many chances to do
sports, join some dance party and act some plays with my friends. Therefore, in
order to adapt the different life, I have changed a lot.
The biggest change
is I became more outgoing. Because there are much more events like filed trip
and volunteer jobs than my school in China, I have to be more outgoing. When I
came to America, I was relaxed with the people I was familiar with. However, I used
to be very nervous with strangers. It is hard to find friends for me and I was
passive. Therefore, I tried to use every event like ball and filed trip to help
me become more outgoing with strangers, but the start is always very hard. I
needed to improve my speaking skills and to force myself to talk with
strangers. At first I was afraid to talk with them and I did not know what kind
of topic I should talk with them. After four mouths study, I overcame my
problem and became much more outgoing. I am sure this change will let me become
successful in the future.
As I said before,
The Northwest School is a colorful and thoughtful school. Everyday in this
school is different. There are many events and meaningful projects in America’s
school, such as debate, and catapult game. I improved my speaking skill when I
was debate, and I became more ingenuity after the catapult game. My school in
China is much stricter and more academic than the Northwest School. Actually,
Chinese school is like a big library and classroom. I feel more like a learned
when I was in China because I was learning almost every time. However, In
America, I can get these knowledge from games, and it is hard to forget these
knowledge in this way. In China I feel like a person who can just memorize
these theories and it is much easier to forget after I got the test.
As a learner, the
most exciting topic for me is to write essays, such as Gilgamesh essay and
Macbeth Essay. From these essays, I can really think about these characters and
what is the main idea that the writer wants to show us. I will not have a
chance to do this kind of writing in China. Writing essays makes me become
wiser and more thoughtful. This excited me about I can understand what is the
subtext that author wants to tell us. It is very fun to think about it, and
thinking also lets me feel like a learner.
